- RITA "Newburgh Heights" Credit Limit and Credit Factor Updated.
RITA (Form 37) "Newburgh Heights" Tax Credit changed to 30.00% (was 0%); Credit Limit to 1.00% (was 0%).
- "Springfield City" Tax Rate Updated.
Generic Municipality Form, "Springfield City" Tax Rate was changed to 2.4% (was erroneously 2.2% before).
- RITA Withholdings described as "R0907".
RITA Withholdings described as "R0907" on Form W-2 in Box 20, was erroneously being interpreted by the program as a school district code and completing Form SD 100.
- Form 37 (RITA), page 6, Locations 3 to 6, Line 5, 50% Loss Allowed In Current Year.
The loss allowed in the current year after applying the 50% limit was previously overstated.
- Form SD-100, Schedule A, Line 19, Ohio Income Tax Base.
Line 19 calculation has been updated to reflect IT-1040, Line 3 minus Line 4, allowing a negative amount.
- Columbus Form IR-25, Page 2.
The error generated when trying to access page 2 of Form IR-25 has been corrected.
- Occurrences of business rule OHCOM-047 electronic filing reject should be reduced with changes implemented the previous release of ProSeries/Ohio
- Occurrences of electronic filing rejects for the Health Care Worksheet should be reduced with changes implemented in the previous release of ProSeries/Ohio
What's new for ProSeries/Ohio
The following items are new for tax year 2018:
- College Advantage, Ohio's 529 Plan and STABLE, Ohio's ABLE plan Deductions Increase in Tax Year 2018.
Amended Substitute House Bill 49, increased the annual Ohio 529 and STABLE contributions deduction (Schedule A) limit to $4,000 (previously $2,000) per beneficiary per year for taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2018.
- Disaster Work Deduction.
A new deduction is available on Ohio Schedule A for income earned by out-of-state business owners and employees who conduct disaster work in Ohio during a disaster response period.
- Nonresident Credit Calculation.
Form IT NRC, used by part-year residents and nonresidents to calculate their nonresident credit, has undergone significant revisions for tax year 2018.
- Form IT NRS.
A new form has been created for taxpayers who meet the requirements in R.C. 5747.24 and who wish to establish an irrebuttable presumption that they are not domiciled in Ohio.
- Ohio Income Tax Tables.
Beginning with tax year 2018, Ohio's individual income tax brackets have been adjusted so that taxpayers with income of $10,850 or less are not subject to income tax. Also, the tax brackets have been indexed for inflation per Ohio Revised Code section 5747.02(A)(5).
- Electronic 1099-Gs.
Your 1099-G is available to view and print using Online Services at tax.ohio.gov. You can elect to receive your 1099-G electronically.
- Standard Deduction Increased.
The standard deduction is increased annually based on the rate of inflation.
- Driver's License Requirement.
Ohio requires driver’s license information for the primary taxpayer and spouse (if Married Filing Jointly) beginning in tax year 2016 in an effort to combat stolen-identity tax fraud. Taxpayers will be asked to provide the information from their driver’s license or state issued identification card. For taxpayers who do not have a driver’s license or state ID card, they will have the option to specifically indicate they do not have one and allowed to e-file.
- Date of Birth Requirement.
Ohio requires the date of birth for the primary and secondary taxpayer.
- Ohio Municipalities.
For municipalities or taxing jurisdictions that had an income tax in place prior to January 1, 2016, net operating loss carryforward amounts are phased-in. For losses incurred in tax years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021, only 50% of the carried forward loss may be deducted in each subsequent year.

The Ohio Department of Taxation has approved for electronic filing Income Tax Return E-Filable forms and schedules included in ProSeries/Ohio.
The Ohio Municipalities have approved for filing all Printed Income Tax Return forms and schedules included in ProSeries/Ohio.

You can file returns electronically with this version of ProSeries/Ohio.

Check all returns after printing
The Ohio Department of Taxation scans computer-generated forms to quickly
process the income tax returns it receives. To meet the requirements for
producing computer-generated forms, ProSeries is required to limit the width of
the tax information printed on forms that are scanned. In certain cases, data
you entered may be truncated. After completing a tax return, review the
information that prints (for example, mailing address information), make any
necessary changes, and reprint the return before mailing it.
