All forms in this release of ProSeries/1040 can be filed with the IRS.
Items addressed in this release of ProSeries/1040
The following issues have been fixed in this release:
- Form 2848 - The program has been updated with a new version of Form 2848, Power of Attorney, which was released by the IRS on July 31, 2014.
- A Client Analyzer query has been added to assist in identifying client files which are now eligible for the California exclusion for qualified principal residence debt.
- There was not a release number 27, 28, 29, 30 or 31.

The following issues were fixed in prior releases
- Release 2013.260 / June 5, 2014 - The issue when Form 2106 and 2106-EZ are not required to be filed, but are needed to be printed for any reason, has been fixed.
- Release 2013.260 / June 5, 2014 - Form 1040 - The breakdown of penalties and interest included in line 77, estimated tax penalty, will now print at the bottom of page 2.
- Release 2013.260 / June 5, 2014 - Vehicle Expenses Worksheet - The lease inclusion amount is no longer deducted twice when the business percentage falls below 100%.
- Release 2013.220 / May 8, 2014 - Error messages were added to the 1040X Line 29 dependents table to let the user know that entries should not be made directly in that table. Instead the 2013 checkbox at the top of the form should be checked and if there is a change in dependents, that change should be made on the Federal Information Worksheet and the changes will calculate into the dependent table.
- Release 2013.210 / May 1, 2014 - An error message was added to Form 1040X, line 29 to prevent the entry of dependents directly on the form. Changes to dependents should be made on the Information Worksheet after the '2013' box is checked at the top of Form 1040X.
- Release 2013.200 / April 24, 2014 - Form 8959 - The IRS has clarified instructions and line 19 now includes uncollected medicare tax from box 12 of Form W-2 with a code B or N.
- Release 2013.200 / April 24, 2014 - Form 2555 has been corrected to not allow the foreign income exclusion if taxpayers trying to qualify under the physical presence test should be disqualifed due to trips abroad.
- Release 2013.200 / April 24, 2014 - There was not a release number 17, 18 or 19.
- Release 2013.16b / April 3, 2014 - Form 8615, line 1, unearned income, has been corrected to include taxable scholarships from Form 1040, line 7 that were not subject to self employment tax.
- Release 2013.16b / April 3, 2014 - Form 4868 has been changed to allow the Mailing Address and Filing Instructions on the screen to be printed out as a Smart Worksheet when printing the form by selecting the Print Option of "Include Smart Worksheets".
- Release 2013.16a / March 31, 2014 - The 'rates per form' issue that was introduced in the March 19th update
was corrected in this release of the ProSeries 1040. The issue that
was introduced on March 19th caused the existing rates in the 'rates per
form' list of global options to shift to incorrect lines due to changes
that were made to the list to remove an obsolete form and insert a new form
(Form 8948). The fix in this release will reset the 'rates per form' list to
the original list and Form 8948 will now appear at the bottom of the list.
IMPORTANT: If you adjusted your rates after the March 19 issue occurred your
rates will once again be shifted. This release of ProSeries provides a
special tool to assist you will resetting your rates to match back to the
original list. For instructions on how and when to use this tool go to the
'Ask ProSeries' section of the help toolbar and search on 'incorrect rates
per form' to access the support article.
- Release 2013.160 / March 28, 2014 - There is a new product available supporting
the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) Form 114, Report of Foreign Bank
and Financial Accounts. Form 114 replaces the obsolete Form TD F 90-22.1 and is
required to be electronically filed. To access Form 114, start or open a Form 1040
return, go to the File menu and select Go to Foreign Bank Reporting Form 114.
- Release 2013.160 / March 28, 2014 - Transfer from a prior year Form
TD F 90-22.1 to Form 114 is available. Transfer a 2012 1040 tax client to a
2013 1040 tax client using either Batch transfer or select Transfer from the
File menu option. NOTE: Spouse information on Form TD F 90-22.1, Part II,
Financial Account(s) Owned Separately will not transfer to 2013. There is a U.S.
Department of Treasury FINCEN website available to report spouse's information
on Financial Account(s) owned separately. Go to: http://www.fincen.gov/forms/bsa_forms/ for more information.
- Release 2013.150 / March 19, 2014 - Student Information Worksheet, Part II,
line 8 was incremented in error if the student claimed the Lifetime Learning
Credit on the tax return transferred from 2012. This field should only
include the number of years the student took the American Opportunity Credit.
Please adjust the number of years AOC was claimed if your client is affected.
- Release 2013.140 / March 13, 2014 - The adjustment for capital loss
carryforward on line 5b of Form 8960 was not calculating correctly in some
circumstances. This has been corrected.
- Release 2013.130 / March 6, 2014 - Donee organization name and address has
been split into three lines on Form 8283, Section A, Part I, to improve
legibility.
- Release 2013.130 / March 6, 2014 - The submission ID field on Forms 8878,
8879 and 9325 will now populate after a return is electronically filed and
an accepted acknowledgement is received.
- Release 2013.130 / March 6, 2014 - Form 8959 will now be a part of the tax
return if line 24 is greater than zero.
- Release 2013.120 / February 27, 2014 - Printing issues with the Tax History
report have been resolved.
- Release 2013.110 / February 20, 2014 - An education credit or deduction is
no longer allowed for married filing joint filers if either spouse is claimed
as a dependent of another taxpayer (or could be claimed for purposes of the
tuition and fees deduction) even if the student is not the one being claimed
by another taxpayer.
- Release 2013.110 / February 20, 2014 - The AMT NOL carrying forward to 2014
has been corrected so that it no longer doubles the amount carried over from
prior years.
- Release 2013.100 / February 13, 2014 - The IRS has released a new version of Form 8857, Request for Innocent Spouse
Relief. The 2010 version of the form used in this release will still be
accepted by the IRS. The form will be updated to the newer version by the
end of February.

We've removed the following obsolete forms and worksheets from ProSeries/1040 for the
2013 tax year:

- Form 4684, Revenue Procedure 2009-20 Statement
- Form 8930, Qualified Disaster Recovery Assistance

Electronic filing functionality is
available in this release of ProSeries/1040.
For electronic filing procedures and information, click the
EF button on the toolbar to go to the EF Center
(also known as the HomeBase Electronic Filing view). The
Steps to E-File section on the right side of the EF Center
summarizes the steps that you take when you file a client's return(s)
electronically. In the Steps to E-File section:
- Click a step to see detailed information in the ProSeries User's Guide.
- Click a button to see more information about electronic filing.
To perform electronic filing functions, select the E-File
Now button on the toolbar to e-file the currently open return or
go to the EF Center and highlight all of the returns you want to e-file. Next,
go to the E-File menu, select Electronic Filing, then select the
appropriate command from the Electronic Filing menu.
New in Tax Year 2013
Form 8839, Qualified Adoption Expenses, can now be electronically
filed.
Electronic Return Originator Information
The IRS requires all software transmitters to validate electronic return
originator information for Authorized IRS e-file Providers. New screens have
been added to the Options Setup Wizard and in Options to collect the ERO name
and address that are registered with the IRS for each EFIN used in ProSeries
for electronic filing. Intuit ProSeries will use the information provided to
verify the EFIN(s) against the IRS ERO Lookup service.
- Important Note: Ensure the information in the IRS
e-services for your EFIN matches what you enter into ProSeries. If unable to
validate your EFIN, Intuit reserves the right at any time to require users of
the Electronic Filing Service to provide additional information verifying that
they are Authorized IRS e-file Providers using a valid IRS issued EFIN.
